Long Way from Long Point

2026 will go down as a year of making memories for Reid MacDonald.

The 18-year-old was a key piece of a Dawgs Academy 18U Black team that won several major tournaments including the inaugural Morneau Cup before heading to the Blue Jays Academy Canadian Futures Showcase.

They were the kinds of experiences that the Long Point, Nova Scotia product hoped for when he moved west to Okotoks three years ago.

Road Return

On the road again.

The top high school baseball academy teams in Canada just can’t wait to get on The Road to Okotoks again.

Following the highly successful debut of the national event – which pits the top U19 programs from coast to coast against each other in pursuit of the Morneau Cup – at the Seaman Stadium Complex in Okotoks in July, the tournament is making a return in 2027.

A seven-run bottom of the third inning powered the hosts to an 11-5 victory over the Sylvan Lake Gulls Prep in the championship game of the 19U Baseball Canada Road to Okotoks national championship tournament on Sunday afternoon at Seaman Stadium.
