Key Addition

One of the best pitchers to ever suit up for the Toronto Blue Jays and a player who got his start in professional baseball in Alberta has been selected for induction in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Lefty hurler Jimmy Key was one of six people named as part of the 2024 induction class recently, adding the honour to his list of achievements, which includes a pair of World Series rings and five Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star appearances.

Summer of Bronze

Cydnie Moore must be looking forward to her next trip to the Maritimes to play baseball.

The Calgary product spent the summer winning bronze as a player at the Open Women’s National Championship in Nova Scotia and as a coach at the 16U Girls National Championship in Prince Edward Island.

They are experiences she hopes will help her inspire the next generation of baseball players in Alberta.

Bronze Medal Rally

It was a rollercoaster ride for Team Alberta at the Baseball Canada Women’s Nationals in Nova Scotia.

After going 1-2 in the round-robin, they outlasted Saskatchewan and lost to Quebec before claiming bronze in an exciting 5-4 win over the hosts.

The three-team pilot season will begin this summer, with the hope of having girls playing with and against more girls.
