It was a highly eventful year for the baseball scene in Alberta and Saskatchewan over these last 12 months.

Personal highs were reached, teams came out of nowhere to achieve fantastic results, and the game itself developed in new, exciting ways.

Ballpark Building Blocks

As the concrete walls and steel beams rise out of the dirt in Spruce Grove, a new ballpark is finally starting to take shape.

The forging of a new identity for a Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) franchise that will celebrate its 20th year of existence in 2025 is also underway.

With a moving in date set for June of next year, the multi-million dollar stadium project has moved well beyond photorealistic renderings and that much closer to becoming a reality.

WCBL All-Stars Announced

The Western Canadian Baseball League has named its regular season all-star selections for the 2024 campaign.

The announcement includes a First Team All-Star squad and a Second Team All-Star roster consisting of pitchers, catchers, infielders, outfielders and designated hitters.

Standing on Guard

It was kind of fitting that Erik Sabrowski had to wait a little while longer than he had hoped to make his Major League Baseball debut.

After getting through two Tommy John surgeries and the global pandemic just to turn pro, the St. Albert product made the best of the opportunity.

On Sept. 4, 2024, Sabrowski came out of the bullpen for the Cleveland Guardians against the Kansas City Royals.
