Hawk Eyes Return

Vauxhall Academy of Baseball grad Garrett Hawkins has been rising up the San Diego Padres’ depth chart since being drafted in 2019.

However, his plans have hit a roadblock after undergoing Tommy John surgery in August.

As Tyson Shushkewich reports, the right-hander is still hoping to return in 2024.

Grant Approved

Logan Grant admits he’s not the best cook, so getting to play close to home for the first time in a few years has been a nice treat.

After seasons with the Sylvan Lake Gulls and Swift Current 57s, the Dawgs Academy product is playing for the Okotoks Dawgs this summer.

And he’s relishing in the opportunity with an All-Star performance so far.

No-Hitters, No Problem

Reese Devlin and Travis Cole combined for a no-hitter with the Fort McMurray Giants, while Izaiah Ayala hurled a no-no for the Swift Current 57s.

Q&A with Prospect Derek Shedden

The Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) championship rematch between the Edmonton Prospects and Swift Current 57’s will go to a winner-take-all deciding Game 5 tonight at Mitchell Field.

One of the players who helped make this series go the distance is Edmonton’s left fielder Derek Shedden, whose desperate diving catch put an end to Game 3 and allowed Prospects fans to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
