There’s a difference between being a thrower and being a pitcher in baseball.

Dawgs Academy product Simon Lusignan admits he was more of a thrower when he arrived in Okotoks a couple of years ago.

But since then, he has improved dramatically, with a few opportunities to pitch on bigger stages.

2021 might be his year, as he is a highly-ranked Canadian prospect for the MLB Draft, while he is also committed to Stetson University.

Bennett Freiter’s long drive home to see family is about to be cut in half.

The St. Andrews, Manitoba native has become accustomed to the 1,350 kilometre trek between home and Okotoks while he has been rounding the bases with Dawgs Academy.

Starting in the fall of 2021, the catcher will see his commute distance hacked to 519 kilometres as he continues his education and baseball journeys at North Dakota State University.
