Every time Scott Gillespie stepped foot into a different Canadian Baseball League stadium in 2026, he was soaking the entire experience in.

After a solid college career and five years in the independent professional circuit formerly known as the Intercounty Baseball League, the Sherwood Park native knew it was time to move on.

We are excited to be partnering with the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) to bring you a series of player profiles this summer.

The new feature – which is called THREE UP, THREE DOWN – allows baseball fans to get to know some of the hitters and pitchers in the WCBL a bit better.

The first person to toe the rubber for these articles is Sherwood Park’s Scott Gillespie, a right-handed starting pitcher with the Edmonton Prospects.

Then there’s the last out that precedes a rain delay. Is it really the final out? Will this game start up again? Will we play the rest of this another day?
