Hawk Eyes Return

Vauxhall Academy of Baseball grad Garrett Hawkins has been rising up the San Diego Padres’ depth chart since being drafted in 2019.

However, his plans have hit a roadblock after undergoing Tommy John surgery in August.

As Tyson Shushkewich reports, the right-hander is still hoping to return in 2024.

Cleveland Calling

Erik Sabrowski wasn’t overly surprised when he saw his name come up in the recent MLB Rule 5 Draft.

Battling arm injuries the last three years – including a second Tommy John Surgery this fall – the Cleveland Guardians took him from the San Diego Padres with the 11th overall pick.

The Edmonton-area product is hoping to use all he’s learned over the past few years to make a big jump in 2023.

Road To Recovery

Edmonton’s Erik Sabrowski was on the right path to professional baseball.

After lighting it up with the Edmonton Prospects and Cloud County Community College, he was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2018.

But shortly after reporting to the Padres in Arizona, the left-hander learned he would need Tommy John surgery.
