Feels Like Home

It was a homecoming Max Benton didn’t think he would ever make.

The Lethbridge Bulls starting pitcher toed the rubber at Doug Lehman Field in Oyen for the Western Canadian Baseball League’s Rural Roots Classic, where he had done it many times before as a member of the Badlands Baseball Academy.

Early Riser

And while most teenagers lament the idea of their alarm going off at 5 a.m., Jackson Sherren relishes in the opportunity to get up and go to “work” as he chases his baseball dreams.

The PEI product and Dawgs Academy prospect found that gratitude after a challenging few years dealing with two major injuries.

Realm of Possibility

When Brett Platts was 20 years old, he set a goal of making it to the big leagues by the time he was 25.

While the Prince Edward Island product’s on-field career had come to an end, he was forging a new path in strength and conditioning.

After a stint with Iowa University and the Texas Rangers’ program in the Dominican Republic, the Dawgs Academy grad is heading to the Texas Rangers’ Single-A affiliate, the Down East Wood Ducks.
