Ten Movies We Like

Hollywood will soon celebrate another edition of the Academy Awards in Los Angeles, and hand out Oscars to the most critically acclaimed movies of the year.

We’re also big film lovers, but we have a certain type. We like baseball movies, or at the very least ones that have memorable baseball scenes in them. We also give bonus points to movies that have some kind of connections to Alberta and Saskatchewan.

With that in mind, here’s a look at 10 movies that we like and have written about in the past …

Naked Gun Fun

Hey, if Die Hard is a Christmas classic, well then yippee ki-yay, you bet The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! is a baseball film.

And not only is it a baseball flick, just like Field of Dreams and The Hill, it has ties to Western Canada.

Wax Pack Nostalgic

Like many kids born in the 1980’s, Stu Stone was “all in” with sports cards. His father even owned a series of baseball card shops, which fueled his passion for the hobby. But in adulthood, the actor has found out it wasn’t going to bring him the riches he was always told it could become. So he made a documentary about the industry, which took a “crazy left turn” in his own personal journey.
