Ascending to the Throne

It’s been an interesting ride for Justin King.

The Lloydminster product and Dawgs Academy alum is coming off a great year in Double-A with the Milwaukee Brewers and also won a championship in the Arizona Fall League.

He is now looking toward 2024 with dreams of getting to the next level.

King of the Hill

Justin King used to think pitchers were dumb.

Growing up exclusively as a hitter, he always thought all they wanted to throw was fastballs, so he would wait on a hanging slider or curveball so he could send it flying.

The Dawgs Academy grad has had to change his belief on that after transitioning into a pitcher during his final college season – a move that recently landed him a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Erik Kratz represents the end of an Alberta era. He is the last active player in Major League Baseball who spent time with the Medicine Hat Blue Jays.

He was part of the last Pioneer League team to come through Athletic Park in 2002.
