It felt like it was only a matter of time before Jake Brooks was going to be able to make his commitment announcement.

After being a key part of the provincial and national champion Red Deer Braves, the dependable middle infielder is heading to Colby Community College in 2025.

We ask Brooks a series of questions as part of our 1 Thru 9 series.

Grind of the Braves

Despite a 24-12 regular season, the Red Deer CarStar Braves felt like they had to grind out a lot of wins.

They took that mentality into the Baseball Alberta Elite League playoffs, capturing the provincial title.

The Braves then rode that momentum into nationals, claiming Alberta’s first gold since 2012.
