McDowall Claims WCBL Derby Honours

An emotional Peyton McDowall won the Western Canadian Baseball League All-Star Game SR Bats Home Run Derby and dedicated the win to his grandma.

The Fort McMurray Giants infielder belted six home runs in the final round of the derby, one more than Saskatoon Berries slugger Carter Beck (Carnduff, Sask.) and Moose Jaw Miller Express slugger Austin Gurney (Campbell River, B.C).

WCBL Homer Hopefuls Selected

The contestants for the Western Canadian Baseball League’s long-ball competition have been chosen.

A dozen sluggers – one representative from each WCBL club – have been picked to participate in the SR Bats Home Run Derby, which is part of the league’s 2024 All-Star Game festivities that are taking place on July 20th at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks.
