Bryce Oriold-Fraser turned 23 on the night his Lethbridge Bulls clinched the Western Canadian Baseball League championship. He was also named the WCBL Playoff MVP after two great appearances on the mound.

Baseball Day in Canada: Photo Gallery

The WCBL’s inaugural “Baseball Day in Canada” featured two games between the Okotoks Dawgs Black and Edmonton Prospects.

Not only were fans treated to broadcasts of the two games, but they also were able to watch interviews and panel discussions about the state of baseball in Canada.

The Green Light

It feels like we’ve been running the bases for a while now.

We’ve been caught in some rundowns, and have been desperate to stay safe for what feels like an eternity.

But with Alberta entering Phase 3 of its “Open For Summer” plan, Canada Day baseball provided a little more reason to celebrate as we rounded third and it felt like we made it home.

3 UP, 3 DOWN WITH SCOTT GILLESPIE

We are excited to be partnering with the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) to bring you a series of player profiles this summer.

The new feature – which is called THREE UP, THREE DOWN – allows baseball fans to get to know some of the hitters and pitchers in the WCBL a bit better.

The first person to toe the rubber for these articles is Sherwood Park’s Scott Gillespie, a right-handed starting pitcher with the Edmonton Prospects.
