Contact Hitter

Wetaskiwin’s Matt Coutney now holds the record for most home runs in a single-season at Old Dominion University.

It’s an amazing feat, made even more incredible in that he started the season slowly and had an incredible April.

Coutney credits working on his mechanics, plus using a contact lens in his right eye, for turning his season around.

Wall-to-Wall Coverage

Swing and a Drive

Dayne Fredland is no stranger to sitting in the passenger seat of any vehicle. He spent many of his teenage years on the road between Grande Prairie and Okotoks. And he’s now traveling the open roads of the north-central United States plying his trade in the college ranks. But home is still where his heart is.

That’s Erik with a K

In a season full of eye-popping numbers for sophomore Erik Sabrowski, the two-way threat delivered his finest performance of 2018 – and perhaps of his career – last week.

During the seven-inning affair, Sabrowski powered his Cloud County Community College T-Birds to a 3-0 victory in dominant fashion. Of the 21 outs recorded with Sabrowski on the mound, 18 of them came via strikeout.

We followed up with Sabrowski – a product of Prospects Academy in St. Albert who played for the Edmonton Prospects last summer – to talk about his record-setting game.
