Very saddened to hear of the passing of Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson, who played in the minors with the Vancouver Mounties. He was also a guest speaker at a Lethbridge sports dinner in 1967, as well as in Lacombe in 1980, and the Calgary Booster Club dinner in 1982. Attendance in the Western Canadian Baseball League reached record-breaking levels this summer.

The WCBL cracked the 300,000 mark for the first time for its regular-season games, with 305,425 fans showing up to 275 games in Alberta and Saskatchewan in 2023.
