Key Addition

One of the best pitchers to ever suit up for the Toronto Blue Jays and a player who got his start in professional baseball in Alberta has been selected for induction in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Lefty hurler Jimmy Key was one of six people named as part of the 2024 induction class recently, adding the honour to his list of achievements, which includes a pair of World Series rings and five Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star appearances.

Putting on a Clinic

Everyone had their reasons for smiling on a cold Saturday just outside Calgary.

The Blue Jays Academy National Coaches Clinic was moved to Webber Academy, where athletes and coaches were able to learn from some of the best.

Pat Borders, Devon White, Ernie Whitt, Ashley Stephenson, Buck Martinez and Chris Reitsma served as instructors for the weekend-long camp.

Palmegiani Rises Up Jays’ Ranks

Coming off a strong 2022 season split between two minor league affiliates, Damiano Palmegiani was determined to continue moving up the Toronto Blue Jays’ minor league depth charts.

The Vauxhall Academy of Baseball product is doing that with another strong season with the Double-A New Hampshire Fishercats.

Trevor Larocque cherishes the memories he made with his father at the Louis Bull Tribe ball diamonds.

He remembers the joyous atmosphere with fans in the stands cheering on local athletes at games and tournaments.

However, after years of neglect, Larocque has spearheaded a movement to bring the park back to life, and is getting help through the Jays Care Foundation.

Flying Together Again

It’s impossible to blame Adam Macko for his reaction to getting a random early morning call from a number he didn’t recognize.

Like many others, he just let it ring.

However, the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball product later found out it was a call to inform him he had been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, and would be reunited with his old Vauxhall teammate, Damiano Palmegiani.
