How We’ll Remember 2025

It was another unforgettable year for baseball in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

WCBL Talent in MLB

From hanging in the West to competing with the very best, players from the Western Canadian Baseball League put their skills on display in the majors this year.

Several hitters and pitchers who were stars in the WCBL have taken their talent to the highest levels of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Here’s a look at some familiar faces who took the mound or stepped into the batter’s box in the big leagues in 2025 …

Peters Makes MLB Debut

Tristan Peters – an All-Star outfielder in the Western Canadian Baseball League with the Okotoks Dawgs – has made his Major League Baseball debut with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Herron’s Crossing

All Tyler Herron wanted was a chance to put his foot in professional baseball’s door.

The Grande Prairie native has always been willing to do whatever it takes to move up the ladder in baseball, whether it’s moving to a new town or changing schools.

He’s now into his first full pro season with the Tampa Bay Rays organization.

Next in Line

It was a thrill to see Erik Sabrowski take the mound for the Cleveland Guardians last season.

The former Edmonton Prospects two-way star had a dream start to his Major League Baseball (MLB) career, pitching flawlessly in the regular season before being called upon in big moments during the playoffs.

Might As Well Jump

It’s there for the taking and Tristan Peters is ready to grab it.

The outfielder made a name for himself with the Triple-A Durham Bulls by making spectacular diving catches in the International League this year.

In 2025, he wants to make the jump to Major League Baseball (MLB).

Heavy is the Bat

When he looks back on 2023, Tristan Peters says it was a good year, but he believes he can have a better year.

The Dawgs Academy and Okotoks Dawgs alum is entering his fourth professional baseball season.

His hope is to start the year with the Tampa Bay Rays’ Triple-A affiliate and end the year with the MLB squad.
