Daril Dominates Derby

For a third straight year, a prospect from an Alberta academy has been crowned the Canadian Futures Showcase Home Run Derby champion.

It was Daril Rodriguez (Red Deer, Alta.), of St. Joseph’s Ball Academy, who dialed up the three-peat, belting 17 total home runs across two rounds (two minutes each, with a 30-second timeout available).

Luke Schmitt won’t be forgetting 2024 any time soon.

From winning provincial and national championships to claiming the Baseball Alberta Elite League Player of the Year Award, the Red Deer CarStar Braves hurler had an electric year.

It was capped off when he committed to Butler Community College.

In looking through the last five years of the ADS All-College Team rosters, there has always been a strong contingent of returning veterans year after year.

Flock Together

It was a banner year for the Sylvan Lake Gulls.

For the first time in franchise history, they won the WCBL regular season title, winning a record 44 games.
