For his efforts, “Tugboat” was named the Canadian Baseball Network’s Wayne Norton Award winner as the top Canadian pitcher in the minor leagues.

Matt Wilkinson – a lefty pitcher from Ladner, British Columbia who trained at Dawgs Academy in Okotoks – has now won championship titles in the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and as a professional in the Midwest League.

It was kind of fitting that Erik Sabrowski had to wait a little while longer than he had hoped to make his Major League Baseball debut.

After getting through two Tommy John surgeries and the global pandemic just to turn pro, the St. Albert product made the best of the opportunity.

On Sept. 4, 2024, Sabrowski came out of the bullpen for the Cleveland Guardians against the Kansas City Royals.
