There’s no place like home for Aidan Maxwell.

The Brooks native and Badlands Academy alum grew up playing and watching games at Elks Field, looking for an opportunity to suit up for the Western Canadian Baseball League’s Bombers at some point in his collegiate career.

And now he’s living that dream this summer.

That was quite a show at the Rural Roots Baseball Classic over the weekend.

The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) event – a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Oyen Pronghorns championship season – culminated with a neutral site game between the Lethbridge Bulls and the Sylvan Lake Gulls at Doug Lehman Field on Sunday, June 8th.

1 Thru 9: Braxton Bussing

He might not be the biggest guy in the room, but Braxton Bussing is happy to make up for it with his play.

The southpaw from Coronation’s journey has seen him with Neutral Hills Academy and now Badlands Academy.

Bussing has also committed to Minot State University.

It was supposed to be a one year trip across the pond to try playing baseball internationally.

Instead, Red Deer Minor Baseball product Levi Moon has turned into six years and counting.

The Badlands Academy and Prairie Baseball Academy alum admits he’s been bitten by the travel bug.
